Description
The Blue Moonset Hookwing is a South American rainforest butterfly whose wings evokes an image of a moon shining on a dark lake. This butterfly has caused headaches for taxonomists who first thought it was related to the butterfly tribe Kallimini, which includes the Indian Dead Leaf butterfly that shares a similar looking underside that looks like a dead leaf. However, in 2008 a taxonomic revision placed it in its own tribe and is the only species in the genus Napeocles.
