Description

The Io Moth (Automeris io) is a beautiful North American moth in the Saturniidae, or silkmoth family. The bluish eyespot with some white in the center, on each hindwing, is a defense mechanism that scares off potential predators, especially when the moth is in the head-down position. This framed moth is mounted in a UV blocking frame.
