Description
This blue Amazon butterfly has a silvery blue coloring, which is the result of microscopic scales which reflect light. This unique quality has inspired technological applications including photonic structures and solar panel technology. The Morpho portis is one of the first Morpho species named and was discovered in 1822 by Hübner. Other Morpho species available.
