The Red Flasher Butterfly (Panacea prola) is found in the lowland rainforests of South America and has a blood red underside. Males of this species can often be found in groups basking on sandbanks with their wings outstretched as they sip on the mineral rich moisture. When an intruder is noticed by one of them, he will start fanning his wings, flashing the bright red undersides of his hind-wings. Seeing this, others in the group will do the same, spreading the warning. This specimen is also framed displaying the top.
